White sands national park my boyfriend and i were wanting to take a trip out to new mexico for the white sands national park but i noticed a lot of it is closed off due to that plane crash. About 2miles and you can add loops to make it bigger. Beyond that there are picnic areas and tons of sand boarding. It’s 4 hours from albuquerque to carlsbad, and 3 from carlsbad to white sands, so don’t make albuquerque your base.
We will all be reaching albuquerque on fri afternoon and departing on mon. Can you just drive instead of hike? Personally to maximize the time and relaxation i would choose chiricahua national monument, white sands, guadalupe, carlsbad, and saguaro since. Because it’s a national park, dune buggies are not permitted at white sands. Carlsbad caverns, in my opinion, will take. The drive between el paso and white sands is over an hour, 3 hours between white sands and carlsbad and then 2 hours between there and el paso. Can you bring a dog?
